The Act-Belong-Commit Children Sing Festival is an annual, non-competitive event that fosters choral music in primary schools by providing students with an opportunity to perform before others and to hear and see other choirs’ performances. The Festival was established in 1996 by a group of Primary School music teachers who were passionate about Choral music in schools and committed to furthering performance opportunities for their students.
Held in the Octagon Theatre at UWA from Tuesday 13th June to Friday 16th June, the Children Sing Festival is open to all Public and Private schools. Positive, constructive feedback is provided by an experienced choral conductor.
If you would like more information, the Children Sing website can be accessed through the Massed Choir Festival site – www.massedchoirfestival.org.au (follow the links on this page).
Research has shown for some time that singing in a choir has tremendous benefits for physical and mental well-being. It can strengthen feelings of togetherness, reduce stress levels and improve feelings of social well being. This year we are proud to be sponsored by Healthway’s Act-Belong-Commit Campaign.
Keeping active, having a sense of belonging and having a purpose in life are all good for our mental health and wellbeing. We not only feel happier, but we can cope better with problems and stress.
Just try it. Act-Belong-Commit www.actbelongcommit.org.au
