The first Indian film to premiere at Cannes in 30 years and the first ever to be directed by an Indian woman, All We Imagine As Light is a uniquely beautiful portrait of a contemporary city that immerses you in the hopes and dreams of some of its 20 million inhabitants.
Contemporary Mumbai. A global megacity. A riot for the senses and home to migrants from all over India. Three of those migrants are nurses Prabha, Anu and Parvaty, each coping with the strums and strains of daily life. Prabha's husband is in Germany seeking better income to send home. Anu is secretly flouting social norms by seeing a young man from a different faith. Parvaty is facing eviction from her modest apartment because of an exclusive redevelopment project.
Often set at night, when a natural hush and sense of magic fills the streets and woven together with a wondrous score, All We Imagine As Light, is a mesmeric and graceful ode to a city that gets under your skin.
