Grand Tour is no ordinary travelogue or sweeping historical epic. It’s a daring, sumptuous odyssey for the curious of mind, the romantic of heart and the adventurous of spirit. An anachronistic fever-dream of a film that traverses Asia and time. Sit back and enjoy the journey.
Edward is a civil servant for the British Empire, posted to Rangoon in 1917. On the eve of his marriage he panics, taking off on a journey across Asia. Molly, his fiancée, amused and bemused by his desertion decides to follow him, embarking on her own grand tour of the continent. Interweaving contemporary footage of the countries the separated lovers find themselves in and paying visual homage to classic cinema staging and design, Grand Tour is a beguiling and sprawling take on our colonial and cinema legacies and so much more than a conventional period drama.
